The Fucktastic Statues of Hungary

Several statues in Hungary really stuck out.

As I strolled through the streets of Budapest, it seemed like someone was always perched above me.

I`ve seen a lot of statues in my day. But Hungary had not only perhaps the most numerous but also the most majestic.
The capitals history is symbolized in stone.

While many statues had a historical Orthodox Christian aesthetic others were just bizarre. Hungary seemed to have a history of strange cultural elements incorporated into its Christianity. For Example, I visited a Cathedral in Budapest, which still houses the severed corpse hand from a long dead king. That piece of him rests inside a glass box with a ring remaining on a crusty finger.

Unfortunately photos weren`t allowed.

Nice Fountain

One of the most memorable statues was this. At first glance it seemed relatively normal despite being slightly odd shaped.

The gentleman had a quirky smile and seemed to be in a struggle and an almost affectionate embrace simultaneously.

I passed by on a rainy day. What dark figure is beneath the large hat?

Perhaps a dance with death

The hand which is presumably controlled by the skull appears to be fully fleshed and clutching the mans head in similar fashion that one might hold a skull. Reminiscent of a certain scene in Hamlet.

The statue seemed more surreal the longer I looked at it. The man also has something wedged beneath the jaw of the skull where the neck should be. The skull is attached to it rather than it`s coat implying that the arm from the man also has an indirect grip over the skull. They have control over each others heads.

And at the bottom, they perhaps become one as the metal coats twist around each other.

Now lets talk about boobies!

I saw several boobie Sphynxes in Hungary.

These majestic anthropomorphic cats were probably made long before the modern Furry subculture.

So many statues are on top of this building

This guy is not a statue but I thought it was interesting albeit slightly creepy:

This area had a fantastic combination of fanciness, colorfulness and beautiful animal statues
